Correction Officer (Lateral Transfer Recruitment)
The Ontario County Office of Sheriff is currently seeking lateral transfer applicants to fill vacant Correction Officer positions. You must be a current Correction Officer to be eligible for a transfer. Candidates must hold permanent, competitive status as a Correction Officer (or similar title) within the NYS Civil Service system.
Pay is commensurate with experience after approval. Starting pay for lateral transfer Correction Officers with experience:
Less than 1 year: $52,166.40 | 3 years to less than 4 years: $58,177.60 | 5 or more years: $62,275.20 |
1 year to less than 3 years: $55,140.80 |
4 years to less than 5 years: $60,195.20 | Top Base Pay: 2022: $71,552.00 2023: $73,340.80 2024: $75,171.20 |
- Also receive a $3,500 new employee payment after your first 6 months, PLUS an additional $7000 (paid out in two separate lump sums) for those employed with OCSO prior to July 2nd, 2022 (pro-rated amount after this date).
- Receive an additional $5,000 bonus in 2023 and a $4,000 bonus in 2024.
- Pay increase of 2.5% in 2023 and another 2.5% in 2024.
- Additional monetary stipends include shift differential, Holiday pay, education stipends, and longevity pay.
Healthcare Benefits:
Healthcare remains free of cost for the remainder of 2022. Beginning in 2023 employees will have a choice between a high-deductible plan or 3% contributions (5% in 2024). HRA and HSA contributions made by the County. Optional Dental Plan.
OCSO Correction Officers DO NOT need to be Ontario County Residents, but must reside within a contiguous county upon appointment.
